Gentle Wind Guitar

Nowadays, the guitar is one of the most popular musical instruments. The Strawberry Traffic Jam Band uses several different types of guitars. In the song, Whichever Way the Wind May Blow, a guitar is used to represent the sounds of the Gentle Wind. Most guitars have six strings, but the one we're going to make is a simple guitar with two strings. But you'll still be able to make lots of enjoyable sounds, so let's get ready to make your Gentle Wind Guitar.

MATERIALS

  • Shoe box
  • Pencil
  • White liquid glue and brush
  • Long cardboard tube (from gift wrap paper)
  • Scissor
  • Poster paints
  • Paintbrush
  • Two plastic straws
  • Four large rubber bands

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut a 4-inch circle near one end of the box lid.

2. Using the tube, draw a hole in one end of the box and then cut out the hole.

3. Put one rubber band on each end of the box to hold it closed.

4. Glue a plastic straw at each end of the box next to the rubber bands. Allow the glue to dry.

5. Put two rubber bands in the long direction separated evenly, passing over the hole and on top of the straws.

6. Put the long cardboard tube into the hole at the end of the box and push it all the way into the inside of the box. Glue the tube to the box around the edge of the hole to secure it.

7. Paint designs on your Guitar with your favorite color poster paints.

8. To make music with your Gentle Wind Guitar, pluck the strings with your fingers.
