The Pot and Pan Band Cymbals

In the song, The Pot and Pan Band, the kids create a special band with things they find in their kitchens. We're going to create The Pot and Pan Band Cymbals, which you can clash together to make loud percussion sounds that will help give rhythm to your band. Just make sure you don't make too much noise, and you have permission to use the pan lids. So let's get ready to make one of the loudest instruments used in orchestras and bands!

MATERIALS

  • Two matching metal saucepan lids
  • Ribbon
  • Colored stickers
  • Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Decorate the saucepan lids with your colored stickers. You also can put stickers on your ribbon.

2. Cut long pieces of ribbon and tie them around the handle. Make sure to tie a knot to secure it.

3. To do a proper cymbal clash, make sure you move one Cymbal up and one down when you bring them together.

4. Cymbals often are played very loudly, but you can play your Pot and Pan Band Cymbals very softly. Also, you can hang each Cymbal from a piece of string and strike it with a wooden spoon.
